Meeting Minutes – September 20, 2016

The meeting was called to order be Mayor Jason Montello with all present except for Brian Boldt reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.  Roll call was answered by Jason Montello, Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, Dennis Carls, Al Hulse, and Brian Boldt absent.

On a motion by Dave Iverson, seconded by Dennis Carls, the meeting minutes of August 23, 2016 were approved.  All agreed by saying I.

On a motion by Al Hulse, seconded by Bev Friese, the treasurers report was approved and everyone in favor.     Sales Tax – July 2016   $3,145.57       Motor Fuel Tax – August 2016   $2,411.72       Brian Boldt showed up to the meeting.

On a Motion by Bev Friese, seconded by Dave Iverson, the bills were approved for payment.   6 YES 0 NO

Police report was presented by Jay Mitchell reporting 40 calls, 1 citation, several golf carts stopped and verbal warnings given.

Employee Report

Caleb Freese reported basic routine mowing, weed eat, brush removal, replaced 4 stop signs, repaired salt spreader, repainted auger, repaired tile on 400, painted hydrants, changed out meter at the fertilizer plant, chemical company came out and went over rebuild process and maintenance on the pumps, Christmas list handout given to board, Caleb studying for sewer test.

People Present

Norm Lopez compliments Caleb Freese and other employees on doing a great job on keep the town looking good.  Thanked Jason Montello for taking the mayor position.  Norm volunteered some help on doing what he could to resolve issues with junk violations.

Danny Brown wanted to thank the village board for the Tractor Show in August and would like to do it again next year as there was over 25 participants.

Open Issues

New Business Rebate

On a motion by Dave Iverson, seconded by Brian Boldt, approved the rebate form and Caleb will deliver the form to the new businesses.  Form is on website for viewing.  6 YES  0 NO                Roll call answered by Jason Montello, Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, Dennis Carls, Al Hulse, Brian Boldt.

 

Pond Management (Carp Bounty)

On a motion by Brian Boldt, seconded by Bev Friese, Gift certificate of $3.00 to the ice cream shop (Jymbos snack shop) for catching carp from Legion Lake and signs posted.  6 YES  0 NO       Roll call answered by Jason Montello, Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, Dennis Carls, Al Hulse, Brian Boldt.

Co-op with High School

On a motion by Dave Iverson, seconded by Dennis Carls, Blake Blankenbeckler hired help for $10/hour for 2-4 hours a day.  Caleb Freese will report performance to the high school.                 6 YES    0 NO              Roll call was answered by Jason Montello, Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, Dennis Carls, Al Hulse, and Brian Boldt.

New Business

David Babb present to talk about ordinances.  He went into details about helping out other small towns with revamping codes and ordinances.  David Babb legal fees vary on the work done at $195/hr.

On a motion by Dave Iverson, seconded by Brian Boldt, David Babb to be hired to pursue the 2 current violations of ordinances.  Roll call answered by Jason Montello, Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, Dennis Carls, Al Hulse, and Brian Boldt      6 YES 0 NO

Ordinance Inspector was rescheduled for a later date.

Employee reviews will be given by Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, and Brian Boldt.    The yearly reviews will be retro to August 2016.

Corrpro Contract

On a motion Dennis Carls, seconded by Brian Boldt, approved cathodic protection system for Corrpro quote of $2035.00.           Roll call answered by Jason Montello, Bev Friese, Dave Iverson, Dennis Carls, Al Hulse, and Brian Boldt.   6 YES  0 NO

Additional Issues

The village truck will be present in the parade.
